All the Things: Colors, Patterns, and Vibes
Start by picking the locations for your session first! This can help narrow down the vibe you’re going for. For example, nature settings like a forest or park pair great with earth tones and simple, flowy outfits. On the other hand, an urban downtown setting could be a casual date night with your favorite sneakers or luxurious portraits with a dress and heels. Start with the vibe you envision and go from there!
As for colors, you can’t go wrong with neutrals. Colors like white, beige, black, and brown are timeless and look stunning in every setting. They’re also the perfect base for adding pops of color. I always suggest taking inspiration from the seasons when choosing what to wear for engagement photos, like soft pastels for spring, vibrant hues for summer, cozy warm tones for fall, and cool shades for winter.
If neutrals aren't really your thing, try complementary colors to create visual interest in your engagement photography. It's a great way to add contrast between your outfits and your location. To give you an idea, shades of red will really pop against greenery and rust will look stunning with blue skies.
When it comes to patterns, stick to one patterned piece and pair it with something solid to avoid clashing!
