Eloping is such a beautiful way to focus on what truly matters—you and your love! Whether it’s an epic destination or small personal details, there are so many ways to make your day uniquely yours. As an elopement photographer, I can’t wait to share some of my favorite elopement ideas to inspire your special day!

Destination Elopement Ideas
The possibilities are endless when it comes to choosing a destination for your elopement! Choosing a spot that's special to your love story such as where you got engaged or first said “I love you” can make your elopement even more intimate. Another option is to choose a bucket list destination you’ve always wanted to visit together! National Parks have the absolute best backdrops in the U.S., and there are many breathtaking spots out of the country like the Italian Dolomites. (You can find all of my favorite elopement destinations and tips here!) If you want your closest friends and family to be with you, choose somewhere close to home or even make it official at the courthouse with a small celebration afterward.
Include Your Favorite Activities
Including activities you both enjoy doing together is one of my favorite elopement ideas! For breathtaking mountain views, I’m obsessed with couples who incorporate hiking into their photos, like Kristen and Nate’s elopement in Colorado! Or how Greta and Jairo went canoeing in Lago Di Braies. I’ll never stop swooning over their epic elopement and the romantic moments they shared! Other activities could be as simple as playing your favorite game, or something more extravagant like going up in a hot air balloon!

Turn Your Elopement into a Romantic Weekend
Without the extra costs of hosting a large wedding, plan a fun and romantic weekend around your elopement instead! Take the time to slow down and spend intentional time together. I just adore how Carys and Adi had a dreamy picnic in Switzerland. I was thrilled to capture these precious moments for them as they wrote letters to each other and playfully frolicked through the mountainside. Especially if you’re traveling for your elopement, take in all the sights and explore nearby towns together!

Spend Intimate Time Getting Ready Together
Another elopement idea is to get ready together like Carys and Adi did at their Airbnb! (Adi tying her dress is just too sweet!) You’ll have all the feels during these precious moments leading up to your heartfelt ceremony. But, if you’d rather have your partner's genuine reaction captured, you can always have a first look after getting dressed separately.

Include Your Favorite Wedding Traditions in Your Elopement Ideas
Just because elopements tend to be more untraditional, doesn't mean you can’t include your favorite wedding traditions! You can still have your first dance (even on a mountain top or at the courthouse), and eat your favorite dessert. Or even “something new, something borrowed, something blue” can be a meaningful way to include items from someone afar. The beautiful thing about elopements is that you can plan your day however you’d like!
